Ruby Rose 'engaged to model'
"THE television presenter Ruby Rose has become engaged to her model girlfriend Catherine McNeil, friends say.
The couple celebrated their commitment at a secret party in Melbourne last Friday week and friends including Australia's Next Top Model contestant Rebecca Jobson took to Twitter to post about the engagement. The tweets were later taken down.
Rose's manager Mark Byrne denied the MTV presenter was engaged but a friend who asked not to be named confirmed the engagement took place and that the pair planned to wed.
Rose is an ambassador for the AIDS Council of NSW and is a strong supporter of gay rights. McNeil, 20, a top international model and last month's Australian Vogue covergirl, will fly early this week to the US, where she is expected to make her return to the catwalk at New York Fashion Week this month.
Corey Irlam, spokesman for the national gay human rights group the Australian Coalition for Equality, said: ''It's fantastic that a high-profile same-sex couple is looking to celebrate their love with their families and friends, which is what gay couples all over Australia want to do. If Ruby and Catherine permit Australia to see their ceremony, it would be a fantastic opportunity for all Australians to see that [the weddings of] same-sex couples are no different to their own wedding.'' "
im soo happy for them. at first i was shocked that they were togethor after looking up a picture of them kissing at some party last year(Ruby is SOOO FINE BTW)because you know, you dont hear models getting engaged/being in relationships often, its usually a private matter(it was rumored that she was seeing freja beha.) but damn, this news came out quick. it felt just yesturday that their relationship was a rumour. but wow, they're soo gorgous together, the next Ellen Eegeneres and Portia de Rossi.
