i've just started my research on edie sedgwick, who is a tragic hero. and i just remembered something..
we've had alot of tragic heroes in the fashion industry aswell, including the models.
gia carangi is a perfect example. gia was one of the most famous supermodels of the 1980s, and argurably the first supermodel of her time(however, i beliebe twiggy was the first supermodel. however due to the deaths of her close friends(wilemina died of lung cancer at only 40 years old, and photgrapher Chris von Wangenheim)her drug abuse got worse,"doing sexual favors for drug money", and lost her job. she tried her best to make a comeback, but no modeling agency would book her. scavullo helped her grace the cover of Cosmopolitan, for the last (and final) time. she died of AIDS on November 18, 1986, at 10:00am. she was only 26 years old.
